Welcome to momsiecle.com!
Momsiecle is short for Momsie’s Circle, that’s how I call my site. When I was 17, a lil’ cute boy started to call me Momsie, as I acted as his mom while his Mama was away. From then on, my nieces and my nephews started calling me Momsie… until I decided to use it as my pen name.
momsiecle.com became my official blogsite in March 2012. It was not actually my first blog, I created my first blog on a free blogging platform in 2006 as a just-for-fun blog. Back then, I would write about my personal life experiences or opinion about different things. As our family start a new chapter of our lives in Winnipeg in 2009, I started to write about my challenges and triumphs in Canada as an immigrant, until I decided to dedicate Momsie’s Circle to creating posts that are not only about myself or my family and made my blog site a place to come for immigrants (and contemplating to immigrate) to Canada. Let’s say it became a passion.
Just like other “new immigrants,” I also felt that starting a new life and settling in a foreign land is one of the HARDEST things and one of the most challenging parts of moving to another country. I experienced a certain level of culture shock and I will not deny that even after a few years of living in Canada, I still cannot understand some things that is done or practiced here in Canada (maybe because I grew up not doing them in our country)…. And guess what? Even if I thought, that I have learned to adapt to the four seasons in Canada, I still complain about the very cold temperature during winter, and I guess I will not stop complaining about it (lol).
Here are the stuff that you can find in my blog:
Canada Living are information on how to come to Canada, from time to time, I will put updates from Citizenship and Immigration Canada regarding new rules on coming and immigrating to Canada. There’s also a section in my blog dedicated to new immigrants wherein I put post useful information and resources for newcomers in Canada. Under Winnipeg Living, I post about news and stories about the city that I am in. Filipino are one of the fastest growing groups in Canada and being a Filipino myself, I would like to dedicate a portion of my blog to inspiring stories of my fellow Filipinos here in Canada.
Momsie is the official distribution partner of Welcome Pack Canada in Winnipeg (and nearby cities). In late 2015, I came across this WelcomePack Canada gift box and after a few conversations with the people behind this FREE gift box for new comers in Canada, I thought that my blog site maybe a good venue to share about this special welcome gift for new Canadian immigrants and be an ambassador of providing a #WelcometoRemember to new immigrants.
Momsies Chronicles is just about anything that I think of posting, it could be about my job, my friends, my mommy moments, my love for charm bracelets, my addiction with purses, an advise or tip, it could just be anything. Know my immigration story and how my family and I began our life here in Canada and how we overcome the challenges that we (and we will) encounter from my posts under My Canadian Journey.
I also have News and Stories section, this part of my blog attempts to share not just current and trending news and stories but I would also like to share ordinary and not so ordinary experiences of Canadian immigrants like me from migrating to Canada to settlement in our new home country. You will repeatedly read in all corner of this blog site that I was born and raised in the Philippines, you will for sure understand why I have Pinoy Things section.
Enjoy your stay at momsiecle.com!!!
