About Momsie

Thank you for visiting Momsie’s blog,  my name is Cristina. I was born and raised in the Philippines.  My husband and I and my then 2 kids arrived in Canada in 2009 under the Provincial Nominee Program. As of this writing, we live in the “Gateway of the West,” the capital and the largest city of Manitoba – the city of WINNIPEG!

I never thought that one day I will leave my home country to permanently live in a foreign country. But I guess life’s events do not always happen according to how you planned them. One cold spring evening of April 2009, I found myself and my family setting our feet in Winnipeg…
100 Days

Prior to coming to Canada, I was a human resource practitioner, I am fortunate that I got a job in the same field here in Canada, I am currently working in the Human Resource Shared Services division in one of the regional offices of the City of Winnipeg.

Aside from being a mom, a full-time employee and writing for momsiecle.com, I became a Settlement E-Volunteer with English Online Inc. wherein I reach out to newcomers in Canada and provide supportive counseling to help them settle and integrate into the community they are joining.  (Due to time constraint I had to give up this volunteer job.)

Our family is an Asian family turned Canadian but remained to be  Filipinos by heart. I would say that immigrating to Canada and embracing a new life that this multicultural country offered is a great challenge and adventure for me (and my family)… this is one of the reasons why I decided to dedicate this blog to creating posts that are not only about myself or my family, instead, I want this site to be a place to come for people who are thinking of coming and living in Canada as well as for those who just came to Canada and are now starting their new lives in Canada.

I hope you will enjoy reading my stories and you will find the information in my posts useful and worth your time!

About Us

Momsiecle is short for Momsie’s Circle. As our family start a new chapter of our lives in Winnipeg in 2009, I also started to write about my challenges and triumphs in Canada as an immigrant, my mommy stories, my everyday life experiences and everything in between. Enjoy your visit!
