In my previous post I shared some information about the new intake process for parents and grandparent’s sponsorship to Canada. Being one of the thousands hopeful sponsors, I want to make sure that I am aware of the most recent information (process) and I have the right information and documents in preparation for the submission of my interest to sponsor my parents on January 28, 2019.
I am one of the many Canadian immigrants who have been trying to bring my parents to Canada as permanent resident. I first submitted my sponsorship immigration in 2011 (if my memory serves me right), up to this date, my application has not moved forward, I still remained to be a sponsorship applicant.
We arrived in Winnipeg with our entire life packed in just 6 balikbayan boxes. As I mentioned in my previous post, the grass on the other side is not always greener, life away from home can be really lonely too. New beginnings can really be exciting but it is also overwhelming.
One of the first things that a newly-arrived immigrant does when he/she arrives in Manitoba is to apply for Manitoba Health card. Having a “health card” is very important as it your ticket to access Manitoba’s health services and programs.
You have already landed in Canada, you are now considered to be a permanent resident (PR) of Canada. Permanent resident status are given to a person who is a citizen of another country and decided to immigrate to Canada, you are given a permanent resident status but you are not considered a Canadian citizen (yet).
